Biodegradable Balloons!

I always use 100% biodegradable latex balloons –

Did you know that biodegradable latex balloons are made of latex rubber, which is a completely natural product that comes from the sap of a tree called a Hevea Brasiliensis?

They are made of natural rubber, NOT man-made rubber or plastic.

Studies have shown that the decomposition time for a latex balloon is six months. The same time as an Oak leaf!

When latex balloons are released, most of them go very high up into the sky, around five miles, where there is little pressure and very cold temperatures. The helium inside expands and then shatters the balloon into hundreds of spaghetti like fragments and float back to earth.

Latex Balloons will completely decompose over time. But please don’t let go of your balloons for them to litter the environment. Please dispose of Latex Balloons in your household waste where they will decompose in landfill.

Creative Decorations do not support balloon releases and I urge all our customers to not let go or hold balloon releases. When Balloons are released into the air they will fall into our environment and simply become ‘litter’. Although they will eventually decompose, until that time they will litter our beaches and countryside.

I am a member of the PEBA UK (Pro Environment Balloon Alliance), who are a worldwide organisation committed to striking a balance between the balloon industry and environmental responsibility.

Until next time,

Helen
