How To Have a Happy Halloween This Year

As with everything, that we have done for the last 6 months, we need to do Halloween differently too.

This blog gives you some great ideas, on how you can still have a happy Halloween this year.

You’ve Been Booed

I absolutely love this idea, and wish I had know about it before.

You’ve Been Booed is a fun Halloween tradition where you secretly deliver treats to your friends or neighbors.

You put treats & gifts into something like a bowl or pumpkin ( my stuffed balloons would be great for this!!) make sure you include a card saying you’ve been booed.

You will also need a card saying I’ve been booed for them to display in their window, so they don’t get booed again.

The idea is that they, then go and boo someone else.

Halloween exploding balloon

An example of my Halloween stuffed balloons, the wording can be changed, to you’ve been booed and inside will contain all the different bits you need. You can book in your balloons here.

I spy Halloween

This idea has been taken from all the rainbows we had in our windows throughout the summer in lockdown.

Instead of going around to your neighbors trick or treating, you just walk around and spot all the Halloween decorations that have been put up. Then you the parent give the sweets out – why not make a bit more fun and give them a list of items to look out for, then for everyone they tick off, they get a treat.

Why not hang a balloon hoop in your window or garden for people to see, when playing I spy Halloween.

Spooky Home Cinema

If you really don’t want to go out and about, why not set a spooky home cinema.

Decorate your room up, get lots of spooky themed snacks and just put Halloween films on.

Here are some of my favorite kid friendly films

  • Frankenweenie
  • Halloween town
  • Monster House
  • Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie
  • Coraline
  • Corpse Bride
  • Goosebumps
  • Scooby doo on Zombie Island
  • The Witches
  • Toy story of terror
Halloween Candy Cups

Candy cups, make great treats for I spy Halloween or for when you are watching your spooky films.

Sweet cones are perfect treats to have at your spooky cinema or to have a on hand for trick or treaters.

I hope this gives you some ideas of what to do this year and hope you all have a happy Halloween what ever you get up to.

Until next time

Christmas is coming

Christmas is Coming!!

With Halloween well and truly out of the way, it’s time to start talking about all things…. CHRISTMAS!!
Christmas is coming and along with it comes the festive party season. Here at Creative Decorations we can offer you an exciting range of party balloons and accessories perfect for all of those upcoming events that you may have planned. But before we go into that, we’ve put together a few ideas for hosting the perfect Christmas party! Here’s our 8 must-haves for a great Christmas party!

1.Create a Christmas Playlist on Spotify.

Nothing sets the mood better than some good ol’ Christmas jams. Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, All I Want for Christmas and The Pogues are absolute winners to get your guests singing and dancing!

2. Ugly Jumper Theme

We all know someone that turns up on Christmas day with the worst Christmas jumper you’ve ever seen. Make it a theme! You could reward the person with the worst jumper with some festive treats!

3. FOOD!

Have lots of food. Food, of course, is the most essential aspect of your party. Everyone will be looking forward to your festive snacks and not having to cook dinner when they get home because they’ve filled up on all of your “goodies.” Cookie trees, marshmallow Santa’s, Christmas crunch popcorn, the list goes on and on. Get creative!

4. And Don’t Forget the Festive Drinks.

Have a pot filled with hot chocolate, some eggnog in the fridge and some hot apple cider in the slow cooker. It will fill the room with the scents of Christmas and add to the occasion.

5. Set up a Christmas Photo Booth.

It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. As Pinterest has taught us, throw a red sheet on the wall, grab some Christmas themed prop, like Santa hats and reindeer antlers, and you’re ready to go. Now you have proof of all the fun you’ve had… after all, if you don’t post a photo on Instagram of the party you had, did you even have it?

6. Party Games

Everyone loves party games and it’s a great way to have a laugh and relax. Some good ones include a gingerbread decorating comp, white elephant and the Christmas gift wrap relay. Have fun with it!

7. The Décor

You will already have thrown around a bit of Christmas cheer in your home with your Christmas tree and/or decorations. Why don’t you add a string of fairy lights across the ceiling or around windows and doors? Add a bowl or tray full of sparkly baubles and a few festive candles on your table, this will be enough to create a festive atmosphere. Or call us and let us add some Christmas balloon trees, personalised foil balloons or even some little elves for the shelves!

8. Invitations

The best way to get all of your friends interested and excited about your party is by sending out invitations rather than just sending out a mass group text. Throw some creativity and thought into your invitations!

Creative Decorations can help you with all of your Christmas party needs, we offer the following to add that extra special touch to any festive event:

Balloon Christmas Tree-

These look fabulous and add that wow factor to any party.

Balloon Wreath-

Add a touch of something different to your event with these wreaths, or just a decoration for your home for you! Beautiful.

Santa and Elf Balloon Characters-

With star balloons! Put your own message on them to make them personal.

Chocolate Crackers-

Great for secret Santa gifts, table gifts or stocking fillers

8 Reason To Visit Wedding Fairs

Wedding fairs range from the large national events attended by thousands, to small and intimate afternoons at local venues. Whether they are big or small, they are all worth a visit. As the bride, you can expect to be treated like a celeb from the moment you get there, and everyone will want to talk to YOU! It’s also a fab day out with your friends and family.

Here are 8 reasons to attend wedding fairs;

Amazing Suppliers!

Wedding fairs are full of suppliers with everything you need plus more for your big day!
It’s also a great way of seeing products and meeting people in real life, so you know exactly what you are getting. There is simply no other place to meet so many suppliers face-to-face, and many brides will book a supplier not just because their work looks amazing, but because they make a really good impression

Catwalk

Most wedding fairs have an amazing catwalk showcasing all the best dresses and designs for brides, grooms, bridesmaids and even mothers of the bride!

Bubbles!

A huge added bonus! There is usually a bar providing yummy prosecco or champagne for you to have a glass or three while you take a well-deserved rest from all that wedding browsing!

Tasty Cake

There will be lots of wedding cake suppliers at each wedding fair offering samples of their finest cake! Chocolate, strawberry and champagne are just some of the flavours you would expect to sample! There will be a few unique ones in there too if you fancy something a little more unusual. You will fall in love with flavours you didn’t even know existed and your cake will be unforgettable.

SALE!

Lots of wedding fairs will offer you a discounted rate for anything bought or booked on the day. You could save hundreds on your dress if you are feeling brave enough to buy one on the day. For a supplier, attending a wedding fair has to be worthwhile so many will prepare a special offer for the show too!

Inspiration

This is a great advantage of major fairs – there are so many suppliers, you’re bound to see a huge selection of all kinds of things, from stationery to honeymoons to hen do packages. You’ll see things you never even thought of before! Make sure you take lots of pictures of everything you like so you can look back at them when you get home.

Check Out Trends

Suppliers usually bring a selection of items to please everyone – both the traditional brides and the trendy ones. With so many displays in one place, it’ll be easy to see what’s hot and interesting right now and for next year. A great idea is to chat with the suppliers about what other brides are asking for – you’ll get tons of great suggestions you may not have thought about yourself.

Wedding fair Sweet Cart Ask!

Whether you attend a big or a small event, it’s a good idea to talk to as many suppliers as you can. If you see something you like, go for it – ASK!      Ask about them, ask about their experience, their best-selling products or services, suggestions, anything at all.

Creative Decorations will be attending the following wedding fairs this year.

Pop by and say hello for all of your Wedding Day Balloon and Sweetie Cart needs!

Halloween fun with Creative Decorations

Halloween Fun with Creative Decorations

With Halloween quickly approaching you’re probably looking for a few scary party ideas that’ll really help things get spooky. Creative Decorations can help! Halloween is the perfect time to really let your creative juices flow. If you have already got your scary Halloween outfit organised, chosen the spooky nail art you’re going to have and picked out the recipes you’re going to bake for the big day, then there’s only one thing left to do; organise your Halloween Party! Here are a few good ideas for some scary activities you can plan for your upcoming Halloween party.

1.Grab the Ouija Board!

Back when you were younger, there’s a good chance that you were curious about the Ouija board, especially because your parents were usually against it! This is a fun party game that can easily get a little bit spooky, depending on the crowd you invite over (or the spirits that are hanging out in your house).

2. Crack open the scary story book

You don’t need to illuminate your face with a flashlight, but you can still make your stories spooky. A good place to look is on the internet. Most of them are fictional and some are so ghoulishly good that you’ll be up all night!

3.Make some spooky Halloween treats

There are so many recipes out there. Have a look on the internet for tips and keep it simple! Biscuit ghosts, grape eyeballs, blood punch and spider pop cakes are all fun and easy to make.

4.Grab your favourite scary movies

One of my favourite parts of Halloween are the scary films! With so many to pick from, why not have a scary movie marathon. Psycho, Halloween, Scream, Paranormal Activity and The Shining are some of my favourites to get your hearts racing!

5. Play Pandora’s Box

Fill four shoeboxes, one with something unpleasant (like ice, or sandpaper) one with something creepy (plastic spiders or vampire teeth), one with something gross (worms, or spaghetti) and one with something nice (perhaps feathers or marshmallows). Get your friends to dig in to each box and watch them squirm!

6. Adult Hide and Seek

This might be seen as another children’s game, but you know what? Hide and seek can get kind of creepy. Especially if you’ve got a lot of decent places in your home to hide. Make the house pitch dark and let someone try to find the rest of the gang.

7. Murder Mystery Evening

Grab a murder mystery game, there are loads available for you to play at home and available for all party sizes. Get everyone to dress up and your friends will be talking about your party for years to come.

Creative Decorations can supply the following for your party:

• Balloon Decorations

Make your house spooky with our balloon arches for selfies/front of house or mini witches!

• Sweets

Of any kind, in cones or cups! Give your guests a fright with our frightfully tasty sweet hands!

Mothering Sunday

Mothering Sunday – Time to Think Outside of the (Chocolate) Box!

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, and for a lot of us, it’s hard to think of something that really says “thank you” to our mothers. Below, we have created a short summary on everything you need to know about Mother’s Day to give you a helping hand.

When is Mother’s Day?
Mothering Sunday is a day to honour and spoil your mother, step-mother, grandmother or carer and show them how much they are appreciated.

What’s the History behind Mother’s Day in the UK?
Mothering Sunday is believed to have evolved from the 16th century practice of visiting one’s mother church each year. Every Sunday, churchgoers used to worship their nearest parish, known as a daughter church. It was considered important for people to return to their home or ‘mother’ church once a year, so each year in the middle of Lent, everyone would visit their ‘mother’ church – the main church or cathedral of the area.
This also became a time for families to reunite. It is believed that the tradition of children picking flowers along the way to take home led to the tradition of giving presents to mums.
This has now evolved into a whole day of appreciation for mothers all around the UK.

Traditional Mother’s Day Gifts
Before we get on to our alternatives, what are the traditional Mother’s Day gifts?
1. Flowers. By far the most popular gift. Usually spring flowers such as Daffodils, Tulips and Crocuses.
2. Perfume. A bottle of Ma’s fav fragrance is always a hit.
3. Chocolates. Always a staple; just a standard box of your mum’s fav choccies!
4. Lunch. Taking your mum out for some food is one of the most common things to do on Mother’s Day, with restaurants packed to the rafters and booked up months in advance!

Think Outside the (Chocolate) Box
If, like us, you think flowers are boring and have become the “vanilla” gift for Mother’s Day, then check out our alternative Mother’s Day gift suggestions:

1. Sweet Tree. Unlike flowers that last a week (if you’re lucky!), why not buy a sweet tree! “What’s a sweet tree?” I hear you ask. Well, it’s a collection of goodies in the shape of a tree, designed to satisfy every mother’s sweet tooth (and we ALL have one!) and… it will last!
2. Personalised Balloons. We’re not talking normal, run of the mill balloons. We’re talking big, colourful, personalised balloons!
3. Chocolate Bouquets. All your mums favourite chocolates put together, much better than just a normal box of chocolates.

If you want to show those awesome ladies in your life that you really care, why not opt for one of our alternative gifts. They won’t disappoint and I’m sure any one receiving them will be thankful that you thought of something different.

Do you know someone who would be interested in our choice of Mother’s Day goodies? Please feel free to share our article and let others enjoy. For more information on our products & services, please call us on 01582 513745 or email info@creativedecorations.co.uk
